CONDITION DETAILS
Small part label inscribed verso "So..."Horizontal split across the width along the top portion - the crack is overpainted; the crack/split was restored with a wood brace across the split; the panel is old, it is indistinctly signed and dated 1813 clearly lower right with initials JPC - or SJC or F or S and a C or a G last name; scratches on the surface; chipped lower left corner; old varnish - black light: the split has overpaint along the split that is wider than it needs to be about 2 1/2” wide across the painting; the upper right and sides and along the top have the most overpaint; the figure area and landscape are fairly good and not touched- old varnish - only touches of overpaint in the ground under some of the feet of figures, else good in the figure area; - looks like the style of Francis Guy - like his Brueghel figures, interesting, it may depict some other Peace Day event. It has lots of potential.
