MICAH LEXIER
Note:
Micah Lexier is a Toronto based artist and curator and a graduate of the Nova Scotia School of Art and Design. Lexier’s oeuvre is conceptual in nature and practice and ubiquitous in the public sphere and often his idea precedes the realization of the work. His practice extends far beyond the walls of the gallery and into the collective cultural consciousness. His 2002 public art project Ampersand for the Leslie subway station consists of 17,000 ceramic tiles featuring the text ‘Leslie’ and ‘Shepherd’ as handwritten by thousands of individuals. Lexier has held over 90 solo exhibitions, 150 group shows, produced over a dozen public art commissions and is represented in major public and corporate collections internationally.
